3 Million SeaTrees Planted! đŸŒđŸŒ±

Today is World Mangrove Day, also known as the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. Over the past 40 years, we have lost more than half of all the mangrove forests on Earth - some countries having lost more than 80% of their original mangrove population.
Here at SeaTrees, we make it our mission to not only raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems, but promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation, and uses. This all starts with bringing back these thriving ecosystem, one seedling at a time. And to celebrate this momentous day, we have some big news to share with you.

Thanks to your support, we have officially planted and restored 3 MILLION SEATREES around the world across five different blue carbon ecosystems!

What a perfect day to celebrate this incredible milestone on - as out of these 3 million seatrees, almost 80% of them are mangrove seedlings planted with the local communities at our project sites in Kenya, Indonesia, and Mexico. This incredible feat could not have been accomplished without the support of our partners, and all of you!
Today, we join hands with our global community to celebrate and protect one of the most crucial guardians of our planet's health - the mangrove tree. Mangroves have a superpower that is incomparable to any other plant or tree on earth. Considered to be one of the most efficient blue carbon ecosystems, mangrove forests have the power to sequester up to 5-10x more carbon than any forest on land.

But the benefits of mangroves extend far beyond carbon sequestration. These coastal defenders act as natural buffers, shielding coastal communities from storm surges, sea-level rise, wave action, and protect against erosion by stabilizing our coastlines. Their dense roots provide a safe haven for countless marine species, nurturing a vibrant ecosystem that thrives in harmony with the tides. Not only do mangroves offer habitat and sustenance to countless species, but they also support local livelihoods, providing a source of income through fishing and ecotourism.

We need your help to keep these extraordinary ecosystems alive and thriving - or the future of our planet is at stake. An estimated 67% of mangroves have been lost or degraded to date, and an additional 1% are lost each year. As they are disappearing 3-5x faster than global forest losses, we must remember that mangroves' ecological role on this planet is critical to the survival of our ocean planet. So join us this World Mangrove Day and take your first step toward becoming an ocean hero.

Shark Week is back!

And this year, we have a special surprise that will take you on an unforgettable journey to the beautiful waters of Brazil. Join our very own SeaTrees ambassador, Danni Washington, as she (quite literally) dives into paradise and into the world of deadly sharks. Catch her once in a lifetime adventure on Deadly Sharks in Paraside on Shark Week Discovery Channel, this Friday 7/28, @ 6 pm PST, as she sheds light on the importance of these magnificent creatures in our ocean ecosystems.

Education and awareness lie at the heart of her experience, as Danni's mission is to provide us with a deeper understanding of sharks and their vital role in maintaining a balanced and thriving ocean.

Sharks play an irreplaceable role in the ocean, as there's no way to have a healthy ocean without a healthy shark population. And Danni's journey is not just about close encounters, but also about learning and dispelling misconceptions about these misunderstood creatures of the sea.

But Shark Week’s not all sharknados and flying sharks, it's about educating and making people aware of just how interconnected we all are. So see if you’re smarter than a 5th grader and check out shark trivia with this week's host, Jason Momoa! Watch Now!
