Warm welcome to SeaTrees' latest project in Baja Mexico in partnership with WILDCOAST

We can’t think of a better way to start the year than with the launch of a new project. In partnership with WILDCOAST, we are supporting the local women’s group, “Mujeres de El Dátil,” to plant 40,000 mangrove trees in Laguna San Ignacio. These trees will stabilize the lagoon from sea level rise, which protects the birthing habitat for the California gray whale and enhances sustainability of local fisheries.

Take a deeper look at the threats of climate change that are affecting Laguna San Ignacio and the ways that mangrove restoration can help on our website

Blue carbon ecosystems play a critical role in reversing climate change. That’s why SeaTrees is focused on restoring these ecosystems around the world, and why we’re so excited to expand our efforts to Baja, Mexico. Serge Dedina, Executive Director of WILDCOAST, echoes that “coastal ecosystems are incredibly efficient at removing harmful amounts of carbon from the atmosphere and can store it for thousands of years, making these areas key in the fight against climate change.”

Wear kelp hair to restore the kelp forest in Palos Verdes!

This week, our friends at 12 Tides kicked off their Kelp Hair Challenge. For every person that wears kelp hair on social media, 12 Tides is restoring 1 sq-ft of kelp forest in Palos Verdes. Join the fun by posting a story or reel with the Kelp Hair filter in Instagram, mention that 1 kelp hair = 1 sq-ft of kelp forest restored, challenge 3 friends to do the same, and use the hashtag #KelpHairChallenge. We can’t wait to see how good you look with kelp hair!
